Privacy Policy

This Policy contains the rules applicable to the collection and processing of personal data by GED Ventures Portugal, in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individual persons concerning the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data (RGPD). These rules do not replace clauses subject to a specific agreement with any customer, partner, or supplier. In that case, this Policy may complete such documents but does not replace them. Owner or user are terms used interchangeably in this Policy to designate the owner of personal data.

For what purpose do we process your data?

GED Ventures Portugal manages venture capital funds and the development of activities that prove necessary to pursue its primary objective under the legally established terms. For this, it needs to collect personal data for the following purposes:

  • Compliance with legal obligations;
  • Management of contractual relationships with customers and suppliers;
  • Business prospecting;
  • Processing of information requests;
  • Complaints processing;
  • Commercial communications provided that the user has given his consent and has not refused to use his contacts for this purpose.

What personal data do we collect?

Personal data is all information that directly (eg: name) or indirectly (eg: taxpayer number) identifies an individual person, the user.

GED Ventures Portugal collects the following categories of personal data:

Name, nationality, date of birth, identification document number, type of identification document, address, tax number, telephone, profession, employer, e-mail, identification if you are a Politically Exposed Person ("PPE"), experience and knowledge of financial markets and instruments, investment objectives, characterization of the financial situation.

GED Ventures Portugal has access to the personal data provided by the user thereof by completing the forms provided on the website and/or delivered by hand.

To whom is your data transmitted?

Personal data is processed by the administrative services and may be transmitted to other companies, in which GED Ventures Portugal is part, which provides complementary services essential to the pursuit of the stated purposes.

This company may also have recourse to external entities; the relationship is regulated by a contract in which the security measures and use of data are defined and in which it is specified that it only acts upon instructions from GED Ventures Portugal.

Data is also transmitted to public authorities for the purpose of complying with legal obligations.

Data transfer outside the European Union 

No data is transferred outside the European Union.

For how long is your data kept?

Personal data relating to the execution of the contract is kept for 5 years after the termination of the agreement, and the personal data contained in the reserved area of the website made available to beneficiaries is kept three years after the closure or cancellation of the account, except for other legal obligations that impose a more extended period of retention. However, it may be necessary to retain specific data for a more extended period to comply with legal obligations.

How is your data protected?

GED Ventures Portugal will maintain data security by protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of personal data.

To ensure data security, it has adopted technical and organizational measures to prevent unauthorized use or access, modification, unlawful or accidental destruction and accidental loss, backup copies and disaster recovery procedure.

Some of the website's features can only be accessed via login. For this, the user must have a username and an access key that will be assigned by GED Ventures Portugal. It is up to the user to protect the confidentiality of such elements in order not to allow unauthorized access to their account and respective personal data, limiting third party access to their computer, using secured sessions (https) and logging off when their use ends, among others.

What are the rights of data owners?

The data owner has, at any time, the right to access, rectify, update or delete their data, as well as the rights of portability, limitation, and opposition to their processing.

The data owner may exercise any of these rights in writing through the contacts listed in this policy, including the respective tax number, to confirm identity.

In the event of a dispute regarding the use of data, the data owner also has the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority, the National Data Protection Commission (CNPD).

Policy Changes

This Privacy Policy takes effect from 07-09-2021. GED Ventures Portugal may periodically change this policy to reflect changes in legislation or changes in the website and its contents. The User will be notified of such changes to this Policy via email provided to GED Ventures Portugal and/or by means of a notice placed on this website.
